Try removing the reg key "chrome.exe" here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options
This indeed solves the crashing of Chrome and also the issues with Acrobat Reader after you delete the AcroCEF.exe key from there.
It also works great removing the "msedge.exe" key as well, as I got the same blank white screen for the Edge browser.
